DreamWeaver (He/They/It) is a nature spirit with the power to beam dreams into the minds of sleeping humans, using the special crystal on their forehead. The dreams are full of symbolism that will have personal meaning to the individual. The purpose of these dreams is to inspire humans to embrace themselves fully and move from an individualistic mindset, toward a spirit of community. While DreamWeaver’s methods may seem strange to humans, his intentions are pure. He is featured in my 2023 diorama, Renewal Vision. When I created the DreamWeaver puppet, I was coming out of an artistic slump. I picked up a piece of paper clay with no plan for what I would sculpt. I simply played with the lump of clay until their face was looking back at me. In that moment I knew I had unlocked something deep within myself. The rest of its body, costume, and other design elements came together intuitively from my stash of thrifted materials. As I painted and sewed, his name, character, and purpose were disclosed to me as if he were whispering to me himself. DreamWeaver welcomed me back into my art practice with deep devotion to a clear vision.
